NAAKPA Steering Committee Workshop
The NAAKPA Steering Committee came together in Darwin on March 21 and 22 for their first face to face meeting since the establishment of the Alliance in August 2018. It was an opportunity to review how the Alliance has performed in its first six months, and consider the value it has delivered to Aboriginal enterprises who make up its members. A number of presenters were invited; researchers from the University of New South Wales to talk about Access and Benefit Sharing Agreements, and Prior Informed Consent, the Australian Tax Office, the Australian Consumer Competition Commission, Industry consultants, PM&C and IBA.
The NAAKPA Steering Committee has met via teleconference every month since August and this commitment has contributed to the pace of development of the Alliance, consolidating the group as a major supplier of Kakadu plum in Australia.
